People here. People there. By my side, behind me, in front of me. Talking, hugging, touching, ignoring, walking by me.
But in my mind, I'm just there. & they're just a whirlpool of faces & bodies spinning all around me.
I mean nothing to them, but they mean something to me. They're human beings with beating hearts, easily crushed emotions, difficult, stubborn minds, & shallow reasons for happiness.
What I'd give not to care so much, but that's not in my nature.
I think to myself; I'm 'caring' -- it's a dominant trait in me. Will it be my downfall? Or will it be a strength?

I'm always saying that I am constantly taken for granted, & by now, I should be getting used to it. Not giving a fuck much. But it still hurts just as much as when I first discerned the anguish of being dismissed all the time like I'm nonexistent.

What am I to you?

"We had all the time in the world, so I took you for granted.
I know it's too late now, but I'll never leave your side again."

If only.
